Been a while since I posted a journal. Might as well post one about something bad that happened to my two-year-old niece, Cierra.

Last night while my mom and I were watching Game of Thrones, my sister-in-law calls us to let us know that something has happened to Cierra. We could hear Cierra screaming and crying over the phone while Celeste told us that Cierra might’ve broken her shoulder. She fills us in on how Cierra got up on a chair, fell down and landed on her right arm and face.

Mom and I immediately dropped what we were doing and went over to the house to check on little Cierra. Her crying was as loud as it sounded over the phone. Took us about half and hour to calm her down and check her for any injuries before we went and took her to the hospital. I carried her in a blanket and everything while we went over there.

In the waiting room, she seemed to be calming down and started acting like the toddler niece I knew and love. But once we got her into the hospital room, boy, she freaked out. I can understand that, being that it was her first time ever being in a hospital room where all these people she didn’t know poked at her and checked for injuries. She was her absolute worst when we tried to get an X-ray of her shoulder.

We tried holding her still as best we could without agitating her injury, we even tried to get her to sit down on our laps. But boy did she struggle. She had the strength of, like, ten babies. Thankfully, after all of that, the doctors were able to get three X-Ray photos of her arm and shoulder to see where the problem was at. It seems that when she fell onto her arm, she cracked something in her shoulder.

So now, for the next sis weeks, Cierra has to have her arm in a sling and be given some kind of Motrin every six hours. It’s a good thing the hospital had a toddler sized sling, otherwise we wouldn’t know how to keep Cierra from moving that arm. It’s a cute little sling too; it’s white with teddy bears and balloons imprinted in the fabric. I thank the doctor and give him respect for being so patient with Cierra’s X-Rays. Like I said, she was her absolute worst.

So Cierra isn’t going to need surgery or anything just so long as she has her arm kept in that sling. I thank the universe and Amma that it didn’t have to come to that and hope Cierra has a speedy recovery. Looking at it now, this makes the second time someone in the family has had to have their right arm in the sling. What is with this family and right arms being in slings???

And on a side note, the doctor said something to me that really struck me in my core. The way I tried calming Cierra down and holding her and everything, he actually mistook me for the dad. This wasn’t the first time someone saw how I treated Cierra and thought of me as a good dad. Her actual dad, my brother, dropped us off at the hospital and had to get back to work. I wanted to tell the doctor I was just the uncle, but I couldn’t cuz of how it struck me in the feels. ;w;

I hope Cierra feels better! And you're like, the best uncle ever ;_;
Also I find it strange that almost everyone I know or come across has broken something. Like, I sprained my hand not too long ago xD WHAT IS THIS MAGIC.
